Making Equivalent Fractions

Equivalent fractions are fractions which have the same value as another fraction - the numerals may be different. To make an equivalent fraction, you multiply the numerator (the top number) and the denominator (the bottom number) by the same numbers. These 'numbers' are really equal to 1.

2 x 3 = 6
3   3   9
