 Information on Ratios and Rates

Volume and Surface Area of Cylinders

4/7/2008 Math 2
1. Review of Formulas for circles, triangles and rectangular prisms.
2. Change a dimension and its impact (worksheet)

OBJECTIVE: 1.1.4 Understand the concept of direct proportion. 1.2.1 Demonstrate understanding of the concepts of volume and surface area of rectangular prisms. 1.2.4 Use a systematic procedure to measure and describe the volume of rectangular prisms 1.2.5 Use formulas to determine measurements related to circles, triangles, and rectangular prisms. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Students will calculate appropriate perimeter, area, circumference, surface area and volume THEN not what occurs when there is a change in ONE of the dimensions and how it affects the same measures. NOTES: A=pi x r^2; A = 1/2bh; A=lw; V=lwh HOMEWORK: 'Keep Building' A (Handout)

4/8/2008 Math 2
1. HOMEWORK Due today: 'Keep Building' A (Handout)
2. Warm Ups: Surface area of the buildings in 'Keep Building A'
3. Score/Review CS Additional Practice 3
4. Page 33 and 34 12 to 23

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Students will score and have a review session on Unit 3 in the CS Book - the Additional Practice 3 Exercise sheet. Next item is a continuation review of fractions, specifically equivalent fractions and their relationship to proportions. NOTES: HOMEWORK: 'Keep Building' B (Handout)
