4/21/2008 Math 2a
1. Intro to Exponents
OBJECTIVE: 1.1.5 Compute using scientific notation; 1.1.1 Understand the concept and symbolic representation of rational numbers (exponents, scientific notation); 4.1.2 Extract numerical, measurement, geometric, probability, statistical, and/or algebraic information from multiple sources. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Introduction to exponents - starting with graphing 'square numbers.' Proceed to determining nearest square. (pick a number) draw - find the nearest square (model on grid). Discuss estimating square roots. Present Square root notation. Estimate and check. NOTES: HOMEWORK: None
