3/3/2008 Math 2a
1. HOMEWORK Due today:
2. Warm-Ups: Daily Problem Overhead 1
3. Washington Map scales
4. Similar figures worksheet

OBJECTIVE: 1.1.4 Understand the concept of direct proportion. 1.3.1 Understand the concept of similarity and its relationship to congruence. 1.3.3 Describe the location of points on a coordinate grid in any of the four quadrants. 1.3.4 Apply a combination of translations and/or reflections to 2 dimensional figures. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Finish the map of Washington calculations. Do the calculation of scale factors between similar figures. (handout) Check the room sketch for completeness NOTES: Relate to Scale HOMEWORK: Page 52 #13

3/4/2008 Math 2a
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Page 52 #13
2. Warm-Ups: Daily Problem Overhead 2
3. Scale Drawing - Room

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Students will complete a scale drawing of the room they brought dimensions of - all students will be assigned a fixed base line for the longest wall. Calculations will have to be shown using scale factors and/or proportions. NOTES: Emphasize the relationship between scale factor and proportion. Stress that it is linear. HOMEWORK: Page 54 16-19

4. Page 56 & 57 23-28

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Finish the scale drawings. Page 56 & 57 23-28 - these problems deal with the concept of similarity. 23 includes the relationship of area and common measures.
