1. Measure Drill w/sheet Measure Units Ladder
2. Test Investigation 4 Due today
3. Introduce plotting equations Start 5.1 on page 62

OBJECTIVE: 1.5.2 Apply understanding of linear patterns in a table, graph, or situation to develop a rule; 1.5.4 Apply understanding of equations, tables, and graphs to represent situations involving linear; relationships; 1.5.5 Understand and apply procedures to evaluate expressions and formulas considering order of operations 1.2.1 Analyze how a change in a linear dimension affects other linear measurements (perimeter, circumference) and area measurements. 1.2.3 Understand how the unit of measure affects the precision of measurement. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Students have had a number of days to complete this test. Test must be returned with the checklist to receive credit. Investigation 5 will involve plotting equations manually and on the computer - the primary emphasis will be to create tables from equations by substitution. Start on sets 1 and two - tables only NOTES: All manual solutins will be done in the first Quadrant only. use the x/f(x)/y format values of 0-5 HOMEWORK: Make a table of values for x=0 to 5 for y=3x-3

Calculate table values for a slope-intercept equation:
y =  m  x   + b
Enter the slope or rate shown by m(don't forget the - (negative) sign if needed), and the y-intercept. (Don't forget the - (negative) sign if needed.)
y =  x +
Enter a value for x

Here is the equation with the substituted values:

Here are the x and y values:

10-24-2006 Math 2 bring a calculator
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Make a table of values for x=0 to 5 for y=3x-3
2. Measure Drill w/sheet Measure Units Ladder
3. P61 Prob 5.1 Plot sets one and two Tables sets 3 and 4

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Students are to plot the graphs for the tables generated yesterday. one set per page. Start on tables on tables of values for sets 3 and 4 NOTES: HOMEWORK: Table and graph for 2x-2 (1st Quadrant x= 0 to 5)

10-25-2006 Math 2 bring a calculator
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Table and graph for 2x-2 (1st Quadrant x = 0 to 5)
2. Measure Drill w/sheet Measure Units Ladder
3. Finish 5.1 Tables and Graphs

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Finish up the tables and graphs for investigation 5.1. Time permitting, have students do a plot on WinPlot so they can have an exposure to the graphing software. NOTES: Students are encourage to donwload and use winplot - or at least use the on-line plotter to check their results. HOMEWORK: Page 62 Problem 1.
