5/21/2007 Math 2
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Page 45 #2 (due on 5-21)
2. Warm-Ups: Basic Skills - Division
3. Soda Box from can (r=3cm h=12cm)
MAKE-UP CREDIT - Soda Can Flat Pattern (Need math shown)due 5-29

OBJECTIVE: 1.1.4 Understand the concept of direct proportion.1.2.1 Analyze how a change in a linear dimension affects other linear measurements (perimeter, circumference) and area measurements. 1.2.6 Understand and apply strategies to obtain reasonable estimates of circle measurements, right triangles, and surface area for rectangular prisms. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Soda Box from can (r=3cm h=12cm). Using processes from 4.3 students will give the dimensions for a 'soda box' based on a can of pop (r=3cm h=12cm). NOTES: (Post 4.3) MAKE-UP CREDIT - Soda Can Flat Pattern HOMEWORK: P44 12a

Find the volume of a Cone, Sphere or Cylinder:
picture Enter the radius

Enter the height
The height dimension is not used on a SPHERE.
The formulas used are:
Cone -   V= 1 / 3 πr 2 h
Sphere -   V= 4 / 3 πr 3
Cylinder -  V=πr 2 h

5/23/2007 Math 2
1. HOMEWORK Due today: P53 6a and b
2. Warm-Ups: Basic Skills - Division
3. Walk Through Pp46 ff Spheres/Cones/Cylinders

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: 3. Walk Through Pp46 ff Spheres/Cones/Cylinders. Will model the information contained int he developmental lesson and list the formulas. Student mastery will depend on selecting the appropriate formula and substituting the correct values. NOTES: CALCULATOR RECOMMENDED! HOMEWORK: P51 1 a and b
