1. HOMEWORK Due today: P23 19-22
2. Warm-Ups: Multiplication/Division Mixed Numbers
3. P8 Problem 2.1 Modified
OBJECTIVE: 1.4.3 Apply data collection processes to inform, persuade, or answer questions 1.4.4 Understand how variations in data may affect the choice of data analysis techniques used. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: P8 Problem 2.1 Modified. Design a survey for the class to include 3 categories: After school activities(daily) 1) TV 2)I-Pod/Radio 3) Computer/Game console. Collect the data. make a bar graph, and a circle graph. Express all the possible combinations as ratios and percentages. NOTES: HOMEWORK: P12 6-11
Design a survey for the class to include 3 categories of after school activities (daily)
- TV
- I-Pod/Radio
- Computer/Game console.
Collect the data.
Make a bar graph, and a circle graph of the ‘average’ data. Express all the possible combinations of the ‘averages’ as ratios and percentages
- Data Collection sheet
- Do survey (all classes 1/2/6)
- Analyze data and Target Group (see test/item specs for guidelines
- Do bar graph, line plot, circle graph (pie chart)(show math)
- List ratios and percents (table?)

Interactive Circle Grapher
3-6-2007 Math 2

1. HOMEWORK Due today: P12 6-11
2. Warm-Ups: Multiplication/Division Mixed Numbers
3. Analyze Survey Data
4. Start project on homework. Require 35 data pieces
OBJECTIVE: 1.4.3 Apply data collection processes to inform, persuade, or answer questions 1.4.4 Understand how variations in data may affect the choice of data analysis techniques used. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Set up homework per week project. Develop checklist. Students will need to survey 40 different students. Define average student (sample) NOTES: HOMEWORK: TBA Check-Up 1
Establish new survey: Homework per week project.
Develop a checklist. Students will need to survey 40 different students. Define average student (sample) Review measures of Central Tendency. Time permitting review graphing information.
- identify or write survey questions that will obtain the appropriate information and will avoid bias.
- identify or describe how to collect data about a given population, taking into account issues such as the question, collection method, and sample population.
- describe how a question, data collection method, or population may affect the data.
- identify, determine, and/or use mean, median, mode, and range as appropriate to describe a set of data.
- explain the difference between mean, median, and/or mode as a measure of central tendency in a given situation.
- explain or determine how data added to a data set may affect the
mean, median, mode, and/or range of the data.
- complete a set of data based on a given mean, median, or mode and a partial set of data.
