9-11-2006 Math 2
1. Warm Up: Subtract from 10^n
2. Page 5ff, Problem 1.1 and follow-up

OBJECTIVE: 1.4.5 Understand and apply various data display techniques including box-and-whisker plots; 1.4.6 Evaluate how different representations of the same set of data can support different points of view. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Warm-Ups - evaluation of subtraction skills from subtrahends containing zeros. On page 5 and following in Variables and Patterns, do investigation 1.1 including the follow-up exercise. NOTES: HOMEWORK: Follow-Up 1.1 Express answers clearly. (due 9-13)

9-12-2006 Math 2
1. District Basic Skills Pre-Assessment

OBJECTIVE: Computation assessment: 1.1.7 Understand and apply strategies and tools to complete tasks involving addition and subtraction on integers and the four basic operations on non-negative rational numbers. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: District Basic Skills Pre-Assessment Calculators are not allowed. NOTES: HOMEWORK: See 9-11 and/or 9-13

9-13-2006 Math 2

2. Warm-Up: Multiply 3 digit by 2 digit
3. P14 #6 a&b and other data sets (i.e., age in months)

OBJECTIVE: 1.4.3 Apply data collection processes to inform, persuade, or answer questions. 1.4.6 Evaluate how different representations of the same set of data can support different points of view. 5.1.2 Apply different mathematical models and representations to the same situation. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Warm-Up: Multiply 3 digit by 2 digit; P14 #6 a&b and other data sets (i.e., age in months). Other data sets may be used to review/refince the measures of central tendency NOTES: HOMEWORK: Finish class assignment

9-15-2006 Math 2 bring a calculator
1. HOMEWORK (due today): Finish class assignment

2. Warm-Up: Division by single digit
3. Page 15 #7; Write/discuss your thorough answer
4. Problem Solving (Daily Problems handout)

OBJECTIVE: Problem Solving: 1.1.7 Understand and apply strategies and tools to complete tasks involving addition and subtraction on integers and the four basic operations on non-negative rational numbers. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: From the Daily Problems book, work on the problems 16, 24, 38, 47, 64, 74 (this is a handout) NOTES: HOMEWORK: One uncompleted problem from the list.
