This week...

1-2-2007 Math 2
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Bring a calculator
2. Warm-Ups: Equivalent fractions and decimals
3. Circle Worksheets

OBJECTIVE: 1.3.1 Understand the concept of similarity. 1.3.2 Apply understanding of the characteristics of rectangular prisms and circles 1.2.1 Analyze how a change in a linear dimension affects other linear measurements (perimeter, circumference) and area measurements. 1.2.3 Understand how the unit of measure affects the precision of measurement 1.2.5 Apply formulas to find measurements of circles, triangles, and rectangular prisms. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Worksheet: Area of Circles - do selected problems. Double the diameter and re-solve - compare the areas and the diameters. NOTES: Looking for scale factor. HOMEWORK: Draw a circle. Tell how to enlarge it by a scale factor of 3.

1-3-2007 Math 2
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Draw a circle. Tell how to enlarge it by a scale factor of 3.
2. Warm-Ups: Equivalent fractions and decimals
3. Scale Up

OBJECTIVE: 1.3.1 Understand the concept of similarity. 1.3.2 Apply understanding of the characteristics of rectangular prisms and circles 1.3.3 Understand the location of points on a coordinate grid in any of the four quadrants. 1.3.4 Understand and apply combinations of translations (slides) and reflections (flips) to two-dimensional figures. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Scale up: Draw (not sketch) a triangle with sides of 6mm, 8mm and 10mm and 53 degrees, 37 degrees and 90 degrees. Draw (not sketch) another similar triangle with a scale factor of 1.5 (hint - make a table) From this 2nd triangle make a 3rd triangle with a scale factor of 1/3 NOTES: HOMEWORK: Make a table of side lengths and angles for these 3

1-4-2007 Math 2
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Make a table of side lengths and angles for these 3
2. Warm-Ups: Equivalent fractions and decimals
3. Page 15 Problem 2.1 Drawing Wumps

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Start Page 15 Problem 2.1 Drawing Wumps. Copy the grid from page 17 using a straightedge and neat work. Complete the table according to the rules. Follow the directions on page 16 to plot the wump family on graph paper. Demo the dot paper to graph paper . NOTES: Explain the rules. HOMEWORK: Page 22 #1

1-5-2007 Math 2
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Page 22 #1
2. Warm-Ups: Equivalent fractions and decimals
3. Continue with 2.1 plotting the wumps
4. P16 A, B, C and P18 Follow-Up 2.1 1 and 2.

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Finish plotting the wump family and imposters. Review the rules of similarity. Students need to answer P16 A, B, C and P18 Follow-Up 2.1 1 and 2.
