10-10-2006 Math 2a bring a calculator
1. HOMEWORK Due today: P65 #3
2. Warm-Ups: Measure Drills 3. P65 #4
4. Positive and Negative Operations

OBJECTIVE: 1.5.2 Apply understanding of linear patterns in a table, graph, or situation to develop a rule; 1.5.4 Apply understanding of equations, tables, and graphs to represent situations involving linear; relationships; 1.5.5 Understand and apply procedures to evaluate expressions and formulas considering order of operations.; 1.1.5 Understand the meaning of addition and subtraction on integers. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Page 65 problem #4 requires a table, a graph and a rule (equation) This is a review of last week. The presentation on positive and negative operations is a precursor to finding data tables from equations involving the x values of -5 to +5. NOTES: HOMEWORK: Positive Negative operations worksheet

10-11-2006 Math 2a bring a calculator
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Positive Negative operations worksheet
2. Warm-Ups: Measure Drills
3. P62 Problem 5.1 Plotting the 4 sets (x=-5 to +5)

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Problem 5.1 is modified to be more in alignment with WASL specifications and the requirments of Algebra. Students will be expected to make tables from equations by substitution then to plot these data on a chart in sets of three. Technology available will mean students will also plot using a graphing program (not Excel). NOTES: WinPlot is a free graphing program. HOMEWORK: P137 #4 (handout)
