4/30/2007 Math 2a
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Page 42 #4
2. Page 39 problem 4.2 + Follow-Up

OBJECTIVE: 1.1.4 Understand the concept of direct proportion.1.2.1 Analyze how a change in a linear dimension affects other linear measurements (perimeter, circumference) and area measurements. 1.2.6 Understand and apply strategies to obtain reasonable estimates of circle measurements, right triangles, and surface area for rectangular prisms. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Page 39 problem 4.2 + Follow-Up. Make a cylinder from a flat pattern - calculate surface area and volume. NOTES: Early Release HOMEWORK: None

Practice calculations on the surface area and volume of rectangular prisms and volume

5/2/2007 Math 2a
1. HOMEWORK Due today: None
2. Designing nets for cylinder

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Designing nets for cylinder. Styudents will work with a partner or along to design the net for the largest possible cylinder (volume) which can be drawn on a single sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper. Must shop all calculations and submit the final net drawing with dimensions (r, h, volume, surface area. NOTES: WASL Math II HOMEWORK: None

5/4/2007 Math 2a
1. HOMEWORK Due today: Page 42 #5
2. Page 40 Problem 4.3 A, B, C and Follow-Up 2, 3

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Page 40 Problem 4.3 A, B, C and Follow-Up 2, 3. This is an individual project. The dimensions for the juice box cannot have a dimension < 2cm and cannot have a dimension > 10cm. May not use 2cm and 10cm. Mush show calculations (neat, labeled) and have the nets ready to assemble in class to display (interior taping only) Be sure to decorate the box AND the can. Volumes must compare to the 100th place. Will also work on Monday. NOTES: Full Day HOMEWORK: P43 #10
