[WinPlot]Link Graphic A free graphing program. This is the one we use in class.

10-24-2005 Math 2 Bring your graph paper! Bring your ruler! Bring your calculator!
1. Tables from Rules

OBJECTIVE: •To use a rule to generate a table or graph on the graphing calculator [1.5.1 ] •To use a graphing calculator or graphing software to compare the tables and graphs of various rules; in particular, to decide whether a given rule defines a straight-line (linear) function by examining graphs [1.5.2] ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Review/investigate addition, subtraction and multiplication of integers. Model on board - add to notes - brief overview for process - not a ocmplete lesson. Students will construct data tables by substituting values into equations. Equations fo rhte lesson are :

y=2x+2   y=2x-2   y=-2x+2   y=-2x-2

(use positive values only) NOTES: Model the procedure on the board. Introduce the measures ladder. HOMEWORK: Make a data table for the equation y=3x+2 with x values of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

1. HOMEWORK: Make a data table for the equation y=3x+2 with x values of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
2. Model Measure drill  [Measure Units Ladder]Link Graphic

OBJECTIVE: See 10-24 above. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Model a measure drill. Continue data table for the equation 3x=2 with x values of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Plot the values on a grid (one grid, 4 graphs). Discuss what part of the equations might cause the different directions and positions of the graph. NOTES: HOMEWORK: Page 64 #4

1. HOMEWORK: Page 64 #4
2. Model Measure Drill  [Measure Units Ladder]Link Graphic

OBJECTIVE: See 10-24 above. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Model measure drill from board with the teaching aid. Plot the following equations with positive values only:

y=x+1   y=3x+1   y=2x+1   y=x+2   y=x+3

Start on the alternate investigation 4 evaluation handout. May be partially assigned as homework. NOTES: Wrap Up the plots. HOMEWORK: (Possible) selection from the Investigation 4 alternate.

10-27-2005 Math 2
1. HOMEWORK: (Possible) selection from the Investigation 4 alternate.
2. Finish Ivestigation 4 alternative evaluation

OBJECTIVE: See 10-24 above. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: End of the evaluation for the 'Variables and Patterns' book. New text to be issued will be 'What Do You Expect' but there will be refernces to the 6th level text "How Likely Is It' NOTES: HOMEWORK: None

1. Integer Operations (On-Line Materials)
2. Measure Drill  [Measure Units Ladder]Link Graphic

OBJECTIVE: Integer addition and subtraction [1.1.5] ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Students will participate in the eNLVM [More on eNLVM] course supplement on the addition and subtraction of Integers. NOTES: HOMEWORK: (Possible worksheet)
