1-3-2006 Math 2 Bring your calculator! Bring your graph paper! Bring your ruler!
1. Pp25ff Ace Questions
2. Cumulative Graph information Drill
3. Measure Drill

OBJECTIVE: 1.4.1 Understand the concepts of complementary, independent, and mutually exclusive events 1.4.2 Understand and apply the procedures for determining the probabilities of multiple trials. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Will work on various problems on pages 25 and following, either as independent or group activities. Emphasis is on listing outcomes and determining fair and unfair games as per the test specification [PS01 (Probability) Demonstrate understanding of the concepts of complementary and mutually exclusive events; demonstrate understanding that probability is a ratio between and including 0 and 1; determine all possible outcomes and/or probabilities for simple experiments and situations including complementary and mutually exclusive events (1.4.1, 1.4.2)] NOTES: HOMEWORK: TBA based on class progress.

1-4-2006 Math 2 Bring your calculator! Bring your ruler! Bring your graph paper!
1. Pp25ff Ace Questions continued
2. Cumulative Graph information Drill
3. Measure Drill
4. HOMEWORK: TBA based on class progress

OBJECTIVE: •To review and come to a deeper understanding of experimental and theoretical probabilities and the relationship between them[1.4.1][1.4.2][1.4.3] •To begin thinking about probabilities in terms of area on a grid as an introduction to the area model for analyzing probabilities[5.1.1][5.1.2] ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Continued from 1-3. NOTES: HOMEWORK: Page 35 problem 3.2 A-C

2. Cumulative Graph information Drill
3. Measure Drill
4. P41 Problem 4.1 Model

OBJECTIVE: •To use an area model to represent the probability of two or more dependent events •To solve problems by determining the probabilities of two or more dependent events[1.4.1][1.4.2][1.4.1 Understand the concepts of complementary, independent, and mutually exclusive events 1.4.2 Understand and apply the procedures for determining the probabilities of multiple trials.] ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Work through lesson 4.1 and use the did.exe program to increase potential trials. NOTES: HOMEWORK: Page 44 Prob 4.2 A

1. HOMEWORK: Page 44 Prob 4.2 A
2. Cumulative Graph information Drill
3. Measure Drill

OBJECTIVE: See 1-5 above. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Continue working on the area model as well as reinforcing problems similar to p20 #20 - See page 47 #6 and page 48 #7. Go to TE page 49b and work on summary materials - students take notes - Include the Fundamental Counting Principle. See also investigation 6 on carnival games.
