Numbered assignments are listed on the day they are DUE!

Essential vocabulary: Change, Coordinate graph, coordinate pair, distance/time/rate of speed, income/cost/profit, pattern, relationship, rule, scale, table, variable, x-axis, x-coordinate, y-axis, y-coordinate

Summarize: To summarize, you must present just the main points. Details, illustrations, and examples are seldom included in a summary.

2. =Page 25 Problem 2.5 all...

OBJECTIVE: • To make sense of data given in the form of a table or a graph [GLE 1.5.2] • To read a narrative of a situation that changes over time and make a table and graph that represent these changes [GLE 1.5.4] • To read data given in a table and make a graph from the table[GLE 1.5.4] • To read data given in a graph and make a table from the graph[GLE 1.5.4] • To compare tables, graphs, and narratives and understand the advantages and disadvantages of each form of representation[GLE 1.5.4] ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Working with a partner, do problem 2.5 plus follow up - the last leg of the trip. NOTES: HOMEWORK: Pages 33-34 #12 and 13 - be sure to explain how you got your answer for #12

3. IC Compile trip booklet..

OBJECTIVE: See 9-28 above. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Students will take the narrative and map handout and cut and paste with their assingment materials to create a booklet of the complete trip from Philadelphia to Williamsburg. They may work with a partner. (handouts required). They will insert their graphs, tables and explanations to complete the narrative. (cut and paste allowed) NOTES: This will be due on Friday. HOMEWORK: See assignment for today

Trip Booklet Scoring Guide

Trip booklet: Students will be given a map and a print out of the narrative from each lesson in investigation 2. Students are to work with a partner and add the already completed data from the problems to the story in a manner that makes sense. This will be a cut-and-paste document- not a finished product.

  • There are 5 segments of the trip.
  • Clip the narrative and the map from the handout.
  • For each day you will need:
    1. The narrative from the handout
    2. The data table and the graph (from the lesson assignments)
    3. An explanation of the data table and the graph in your own words - must be neat and written in ink or computer.

You will have to decide where to out the map - maybe on the cover.

Points are as follows: (Each day)

  • 5 points per day x 5 days = 25 possible points
    • __ narrative form handout
    • __ table (labelled)
    • __ graph (labelled)
    • __ description of data in the table and the graph (1 sentence)
    • __ summary of the results of the data in the table and the graph (1 sentence)
  • 2 points labelled map
  • 5 points - information in order
  • 5 points - neatness

Grand total 37 points

OBJECTIVE: •To change the form of representation of data from tables to graphs and vice versa [[xxx]Link Graphic Construct bar graphs, circle graphs, line graphs, box-and-whisker and scatter plots using collected data. [CU, MC]] •To search for patterns of change[1.5.4 Apply understanding of equations, tables, and graphs to represent situations involving linear relationships.] •To describe situations that change in predictable ways with rules in words for predicting the change [1.4.2 Predict the probability of future events based on empirical data. [RL]][1.5.1 Make predictions using linear relationships in situations. [RL]] •To compare forms of representation of data [1.4.5 Compare different graphical representations of the same data.
