Numbered assignments are listed on the day they are DUE!

Essential vocabulary: Change, Coordinate graph, coordinate pair, distance/time/rate of speed, income/cost/profit, pattern, relationship, rule, scale, table, variable, x-axis, x-coordinate, y-axis, y-coordinate

9-13-2004
1. =Page 6 Problem 1.1+.

OBJECTIVE: Investigation 1: Variables and Coordinate Graphs •To collect data from an experiment and then make a table and a graph to organize and represent the data[1.4.3][1.4.5] •To search for explanations for patterns[1.5.1][1.5.2] and variations in data •To understand that a variable is a quantity that changes and to recognize variables[1.5.3][1.5.4] in the real world •To understand that in order to make a graph that shows the relationship between two variables, you need to identify the two variables, choose an axis for each, and select an appropriate scale for each axis •To interpret information given in a graph ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Start warm up on page 2. Goto page 5 and Problem 1.1, 'Preparing for a bicycle tour.' Students will do the exercise in groups of cour rotating the assignments. NOTES: Distribute Texts. Caveats as to what will fairly constitute a jumping jack. Make a major emphasis on data collection - e.g., use rulers, draw boxes, etc. HOMEWORK: Page 14 #5

1. =District Calculation Test..
2. -HW Page 14 Problem 5.......

OBJECTIVE: District basic calculation test. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: District Test. NOTES: Continue introduction/review of area and perimenter.{Review at this grade}[1.2.1] HOMEWORK: None

1. =P9 Problem 1.2+.

OBJECTIVE: See 9-13 above; Review information on coordinate graphing [4.2.1, 4.3.1, 4.3.2][1.3.3](1st Quadrant){Review at this level}. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Page 7-9, problem 1.2 'Making Graphs' NOTES: Emphasis on terminology and labels. HOMEWORK: Page 10, Problem #1

9-16-2004
1. -HW Page 10 Problem 1...
2. =Page 11ff Problem 2-7.......

OBJECTIVE: See 9-13 Above. See 9-14 above. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: With partner or in groups, do the ACE problems starting on page 11, 2-7. Pay special attention to neatness, formatting, etc. Continue information on perimeter and area, specifically the emphasis on linear units and square units. NOTES: Review measures. HOMEWORK:

9-17-2004
1. -Math Fact Drill.
2. -Measure Pract...

OBJECTIVE: Measure practice in standard and metric units [1.2.1] {Review at this level} ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Students will move from station to station and measure various itesm, recording the data in a self-made data sheet. They will then compare the dsta and check for accuracy of information. NOTES: HOMEWORK: Measure the length and width of your math book in both standard and metric units. Make a table (use a ruler) and label the dimensions
