OBJECTIVE: •To develop a strategy for finding the volume of a
rectangular prism by filling it with unit cubes. and to
recognize that the number of cubes in the bottom layer is equal
to the area of the base •To determine that the total number of
unit cubes in a rectangular prism is equal to the area of the
base times the height (the volume), and to discover that this
strategy works for any prism •To learn that the surface area
of a prism is the sum of the areas of its faces, and to apply
this strategy to any right prism •To reason about problems
involving volume and surface area. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT:Page
