Optional Make-Up Credit Assignment-Due 1-14-2004 prior to 8:00AM
Make a scale 3-dimensional model of your bedroom from the scale drawing. Assume all wall heights to be 7'8"; all door heights to be 6'8"; tops of windows align with tops of doors. Model is to be securely mounted on a 8-1/2" x 11" piece of corrugated cardboard. Model is to be made of corrugated cardboard - not boxboard (poster board). Longest wall is to be 6-5/8", same as the drawing. Do not add furniture or other decorations. May be painted but not required. Key grading criteria are: a) accurate scale conversions b) accurate measurement c) scale drawing (from class) with full-size measurements of floor plan. d) neatness

2. =Page 6 Problem 1.1 A-D.....
3. =Warm up rational numbers...
OBJECTIVE: •To explore several ways to make comparisons •To
begin to understand how to determine when comparisons can be
made using multiplication or division versus addition or
subtraction •To begin to develop ways to use ratios,
fractions, rates, and unit rates to answer questions involving
proportional reasoning. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT: Review the
homework, Especially as a potential warm-up exercise. Finish
problem 1.1. Start on page 7, Problem 1.2 part A NOTES:

OBJECTIVE: •To further develop the ability to make sensible
comparisons of data using ratios, fractions, and decimal rates,
with a focus on percents [1.1.2][1.1.4] •To develop the
ability to make judgments about rounding data to estimate ratio
comparisons[1.2.4][1.2.5] •To observe what is common about
situations that call for a certain type of ratio comparison
