OBJECTIVE: #To understand that the decimals representation of a fractions shows the same proportion but is based on a power of 10 as the denominator; #To use the concept of equivalence to change the form of simple fractions to fractions with 100 in the denominator; #To understand the division interpretation of fractions and use it to change fractions to decimals; #To use fraction strips to extimate fractions as decimals and decimals as fractions; #To find equivalent forms of fractions quantities; #To use hundredths grids to model fractions; #To use knowledge of operations, fractions and decimals to understand real world situations. ACTIVITIES: P53ff, "Choosing the Best' Problem 5.1. ACTIVITIES: Discuss the problem as a variant of 'how do we compare different rates?" NOTES: HOMEWORK: ACE 17-24 (pp59-60) and 39 (p63)
