    1-7-2002 Bring your ruler! Bring your scissors!
    1. None

    OBJECTIVE: Determine equivalent fractions. ACTIVITIES: Draw a line 8-1/2 inches long on a sheet of paper. Match the end of the line with your fraction strips. Makl a listing of ALL fractions. Fractions that are in the same place are called equivalent fractions. Have students draw out circles on their papers to make a list of equivalent circle parts. NOTES: Make 30 copies of the circle fractions on transparency sets. HOMEWORK: Finish the equivalent line fractions

    1-8-2002
    1. -HW Line Fractions..

    OBJECTIVE: Determine equivalent fractions. ACTIVITIES: Students will make a list of all the equivalent fractions from the circle parts. KEEP THIS REFERENCE PAPER NOTES: Have them 'match' the circle and equivalent part fractions HOMEWORK: Descibe the similarity between the line part and circle part fractions. Tell the difference.

    1-9-2002
    1. -HW Similar and Different Fraction Models.

    OBJECTIVE: Determine equivalent fractions. ACTIVITIES:[Distribute Progress Report #7] Make other models of equivalent fractions [e,g,, same size squares, rectangles, triangles] Relate the SIMILARIES to the line and Circle. Describe the DIFFERENCES NOTES: HOMEWORK: Continue class work

    1-10-2002
    1. =ProgReport#7....
    2. -Equivalent Forms.

    OBJECTIVE: Comparing fractions ACTIVITIES: Using the fraction strip set, students will make lists of RELATIVE fractions sizes using BENCHMARKS (See Problem 2.4 text, page 23) The Intial assignment will be to list all the fractions BETWEEN 0 and 1/2 and all the fractions BETWEEN 1/2 and 1. When this is finished, reduce the size of the increments, e.g., between 0 and 1/4, etc. NOTES: HOMEWORK: Finish classifying according to posted benchmarks - maintain a NEAT paper.

    1-11-2002
    1. -Compare Lists...

    OBJECTIVE: Comparing fractions ACTIVITIES: Students are to group(classify fractions) based on their relationship to benchmarks. NOTES: Heading will start with 'closest to: 0 1/2 1 HOMEWORK: Finish the listing according to the determined guidelines for this date.
