1-2-2000
1. Division Quiz....2. .................3. .................
4. .................5. .................6. .................

OBJECTIVE: Factors and Prime Factors(REVIEW){1.1.3} ACTIVITIES: Factors are defined as the numbers in a multiplication problem. Prime factors are the unique set of factors for each number. Prime numbers are numbers which can only be divided by 1 and itself. Students need to list the factors and the prime factors of a series of numbers. NOTES: This is dependant on division skills. Therefore we will first practice division skills. HOMEWORK: P45 even

1-3-2000
1. HW P45 even......2. Fraction models..3. .................
4. .................5. .................6. .................

OBJECTIVE: Display fraction models ACTIVITIES: Students will draw fraction models based on either a 1" square or a 1" diameter circle. Fractional sections MUST be exactly equal; shade in the desired portions. Label all items accurately. NOTES: Model these fractions: 1/2 2/3 7/8 11/12 1/6 1/7 5/6 2/9 7/10 6/7 2/5 3/4 HOMEWORK: Model these mixed numbers (use 1" square units ones) 1-2/3 2-3/4 3-3/5

1-4-2000
1. HW Mixed# Models.2. Facts Drill......3. EquivFrctn Model.
4. .................5. .................6. .................

OBJECTIVE: Find the greatest common factor of two or more numbers (4-5, Pp145ff) ACTIVITIES: Review the procedure for finding factors - both regular and prime. Using the division worksheet and list the factors of the dividend (selected items). Pair the numbers and indicate the COMMON factors. NOTES: Be sure to specify the difference between COMMON factors and GREATEST Common Factors. HOMEWORK: Page 580 lesson 4-5, do 9-14 list ALL of the COMMON factors (not just the greatest common factor)

1-5-2000
1. HW580(4-5)9-14...2. CF Drill.........3. Problem/Week.....
4. .................5. .................6. .................

OBJECTIVE: Express fractions in simplest form (4-6, Pp150ff) ACTIVITIES: P580(4-5)15-20 - list the common factors for the number sets. Make fraction models; modify fraction models by doubling, halving, etc. to show the relationship of equivalent fractions and reducing fractions. Students need to practive making equivalent fractions after the models are done. NOTES: HOMEWORK: Make four equivalent fractions for each of the following: 1/2 2/3 7/8 11/12 1/6 1/7 5/6 2/9
