4. .................5. .................6. .................
OBJECTIVE: Experience model making. ACTIVITIES: Students will
attempt to assemble the turret/table model and/or the stairs.
NOTES: HOMEWORK: Page 593, (10-3) 1, 5 and 6 Show all work!
[How much skin do you have?

4. .................5. .................6. .................
OBJECTIVE: Find the surface area of cylinders(10-4, Pp388ff)
ACTIVITIES: Review the layout in the text (p388) for the
cylinder. Define the relationships of the circumference of the
top to the side dimensions. Student assignment due on
5-18:Design and lay out the cylinder with the largest surface
area possible from a single sheet of paper. NOTES: (measure the
paper first! and record the data - do the 2-D layout. To be
assembled in class on 5-18. Write up calculations on an
accompanying sheet - which includes the initial paper
dimensions. HOMEWORK: P390 4a, b,c

OBJECTIVE: Find the volume of rectangular prisms (10-5,
Pp394ff) ACTIVITIES:[Distribute Progress Report #15] Review
the definition of prism. Review the notion of SURFACE area.
Review area formulas and the definition of BASE. Introduce Bh
as the variant for volume. NOTES: HOMEWORK: P396 9 & 14

1. ProgReport#15....2. HW Cylinder......3. HW 396 9 and 14..
4. .................5. .................6. .................
OBJECTIVE: Find the volume of cylinders (10-6, Pp398ff)
ACTIVITIES: Review the BASE formulas and add the third
dimension. Compare with prisms. NOTES: HOMEWORK: P399 12 and

5-19-2000
1. HW399 12&13......2. Project Cyl/Prsm.3. .................
4. .................5. .................6. .................
OBJECTIVE: Use procedures of the week to solve a problem.
ACTIVITIES: Given the HW cylinder generated for 5-18 - what is
its volume AND what would be the dimensions of a rectangular
prism of the same HEIGHT? Document the process you use. NOTES:
