OBJECTIVE:[Substitute] Create a dot-to-dot puzzle. ACTIVITIES: 1)Students will make a sketch of an object/scene to be used as the basis of a dot-to-dot puzzle. [No logos, no initials, no designs or patterns - must be a recognizable object] Te draweing is to cover all four quadrants, and have a MINIMUM of fifty points. Points must be continuous. A point is defined as a location where the line changes direction. NOTES: Line must be continuous. No pick-up-and-move allowed. Retracing must be kept to a minimum. REMEMBER: A DOT MUST MARK A CHANGE OF DIRECTION!!!! HOMEWORK: On a separate sheet of paper, list, in order the grid-coordinates for the dot-to-dot puzzle you have drawn.

Distance Driving

A car is travelling along at a constant rate of speed as depicted in the graph below. Use the information in the graph to explore the following questions.
  1. How far did the car travel in one hour?
  2. How far did the car travel in six hours?
  3. How fast is the car traveling?
  4. How long does it take the car to travel 220 kilometers?
  5. How long does it take the car to travel 560 kilometers?
  6. How long does it take the car to travel "d" kilometers?

After you have explored the graph, write an expression that will help you determine how long it will take the car to travel any given number of kilometers. Your expression should work for any point selected along the line.

NOTE: Your explanation for this problem should include your answers to the six explore questions as well as other information concerning how you used the graph to solve the problem.
